The sketcher art
Kostas Falangas, a sketch artist with a unique style. He says:
"My favorite medium is sketching and I use it to communicate with different people in different situations, including everyday life and other historical contexts, with a special focus on the Greeks.
With sketching, I spontaneously bring to life what I may not think about, but want to draw.
It is my inner desire for expression, which is serene and altruistic. This is what I do in digital art (tablets), I rarely use markers and acrylic paints on stretched canvases.
My goal is to release ideas and feelings from my head. On each of my works of art, my logo is used as a signature.
My inspiration
I am very inspired by ancient times, old buildings, old cities, archaeological sites and museums throughout Greece. I am also inspired by the Minoans, the cities of Crete and the colors that bring a new dimension to my art.
Different sources of inspiration also come from various everyday situations of people, Ancient Greece and Crete, as well as other situations that catch my attention.
My background
My grandmother Agape and mother Maria, both graduates of the Athens School of Fine Arts (grandmother born in 1929) and the Doxiadi School of Fine Arts (mother born in 1959), had a great artistic influence on me from a young age.
Since 1996, after graduating from the Swiss International Hotel School in Glion (GIHE), I have been working as a hotelier and consultant in the hotel and tourism industry. I am an avid reader and speak six languages fluently.
I have studied art history in a small group at the Contemporary Museum of Fine Arts of Crete for the past seven years.
My personal expression is in the form of sketches of human figures from everyday life, either loosely and symbolically, or sarcastically, or in other ways.
In my sketches, I simply depict people going about their daily lives or historical copies of works of art as I see them. Finally, I create caricatures or satirical portraits that make fun of everyday human events"
