Josef Köhler is an artist, teacher,
Visionary, author and manager.
He left behind the classical paths of art.
His career is both complex and easy to explain.
"I am interested in the motives for which people create systems that make them suffer.
I look for ways in which systems can actually be useful to people," he says.
Josef Köhler is on the path to an exemplary renewal of coexistence through innovative and systemic change. In particular, the areas of application of art are expanding.
"Art is not just a luxury item.
On the contrary, art has a transformative power that can renew our society. Educational art is just one of many new ways of combining the arts.
However, art can only be innovative if it is completely free of purpose. This is both a challenge and a principle," he believes.
He thus coined the terms Bildungskunst and PRRITTI, among others. He has helped to launch many interesting projects that have received national and international recognition.
He is passionate about developing a vision for a humane world. In his various positions, he is a welcome guest and co-author when it comes to developing topical future projects.
Josef Köhler is the founder of the Institute for Pedagogical Art and creator of the PRRITTI educational model, as well as co-founder of the Peter Glesel School in Detmold. He wrote a book on this topic together with Stefan Wolf, Managing Director of the Peter Glesel Foundation.
He is the author of the words: "Everything always starts with education, and therefore with the child. I am passionate about education that allows free development. We need a system that protects this freedom."
As an artist, he has been able to accumulate a wealth of experience, having participated in 150 exhibitions at home and abroad.
He has lived and worked in the south of France, Mallorca and elsewhere. Many of his works of art are in private collections at national and international level. Despite his many other tasks, he mainly creates new works in the summer months, which can be seen all year round in three locations in the south of France: Detmold and Gelsenkirchen.
"I paint like jazz musicians make music!
I compose in the moment, in the instant.
I paint mainly outdoors, from spring to autumn. I need the warmth and light of these seasons. In winter, I paint and write," he said.
Köhler's works are a vision, a reflection and a bridge to contemporary social contexts. But it is always about the essence of human relationships.
"My works are premonitions, because they reflect what I only understand later. I use the ideas from my photographs to capture the future in the moment - to capture what is most important in it," he said.
